@Valery: This is all tied in with THE WAY she left the room. Picture the back of a women storming out of a room in high heels. The following sensorial elements dominate the scene: the pitter-patter of her heels on the floor, the frou-frou of her starched uniform rustling with every step, and the mass of blond curls on her head bounding up and down with every step. This is all incorporated in the word ALL. I think I've seen Russian ВЕСЬ used in this way too.

Timur, in grammar books, they teach you the subjunctive WERE for all the persons for the 2nd conditional. However, you're correct — in the real world, most people would just say WAS here. So in your homework, by all means use the subjunctive; but in the real world, use whichever form your little heart desires 😉

@Grumbler, the English in those examples isn't very good:

• I would make a cake if I HAD THE time.
• She would clean the carpet if you asked her TO.
• I would buy a bungalow if I had THE money.
