⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario hace 6 años

I don’t get this either.

So basically it means to take a bus?

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario hace 6 años

We use CATCH the bus when, for example, you're walking somewhere and you decide along the way to take the bus instead. In the Russian, the speaker is saying that sometimes he takes the bus and sometimes he goes by another mode of transport?

Also, the syntax "It's not every xxx I/you xxx" has a special connotation. It implies that the listener should consider themself lucky, or even that the speaker should: "Thank you for inviting me to your son's party - it's not every day you meet a celebrity!" (=I'm so lucky I got to meet your actor son!) -or- (a father) Son, I think you should cancel your trip to Europe and take this apprentiseship - it's not every day an opportunity like this comes along. (=you're lucky you got the opportunity).

That syntax is also unnatural.

I don't like it without "it's" either.

Yeah. For some reason, my version is the only one that seems plausible. Also, in this context, NOT CATCH the bus sounds like you try, but you don’t succeed.

(Normally) I catch a bus, but not every morning.

Thank you for confirming that - that’s exactly how I understood it.
