The whole point of knock-knock jokes is that the word they answer with turns out to be something else in the final line. For example:
— Who’s there?
— Orange.
— Orange who?
— Orange you glad I’m here? [=AREN’T you glad I’m here?]

Aha! This one about Orange I hadn’t understood, although some others didn’t look as tough to me.

To be honest, I’d have never thought of “orange” as “aren’t”, but after you explained the joke, it started working for me too. :))

By the same token, GINGER here sounds like (DI)D’YOU INJURE yourself when you fell…. 😉
