Стоит еще раз подчеркнуть, что это не от "рыть" / "зарывать".

My attempt to translate is based on the meaning of the word lippy : If someone is lippy, they speak to other people in a way that shows no respect. But I'm not sure it's perfect option.

Uly, the Russian version is not something common. The sentence is odd and it's not something you will hear Russian people saying. The meaning behind it is also ambiguous. I assume your Russian lever is advanced but this is not something to focus on. Just my opinion.

In all fairness, the person who wrote this, put it in quotes. What’s wrong with conjuring up an old, albeit almost obsolete, expression like this? Isn’t that what quotes are for?

Точный смысл трудно понять, не зная контекст.
Если это объяснение слова "зарывается" через выражение "берегов не видет", то, IMO, это нелогично.
Однако, можно представить и обратое - объяснение второго через первое.
Также, это может быть понято и как умозаключение - если зарывается, то ...

This was a comment directed at me. I went off on someone who wrote a comment on Facebook that Americans are so stupid that when they visit Britain, they ask “who would build a castle so close to the highway?” I was indignant and said a few choice things to her and she responded with: Uly Marrero, вы учите язык, у вас отлично получается, но зарываться не стоит. Кто зарывается, тот, как говорится, «берегов не видит». Плюс одно выражение вам в копилку 🙂

After all Uly, it's good you've learned the word "зарывается". Now, instead of looking at some graphs or gathering opinions, let the time be the judge. See, how often you're going to encounter this word while learning/speaking Russian. The time will show.

Yea, becoming a meme is possible but it's a different story. Some words indeed come back. For example, the word "планшет" - it was rarely used in Russian in everyday speech but starting ~10 years ago, thanks to technology, it came back (I can see how one of the users here rushing to open Google ngram and quickly check that ))))
So, yea, I'm sure some words will ''resurrect'' sooner or later.

I guess it’s the motivation to work on body, spirit and mind (not necessarily in that order). Also, the weather here is so beautiful year round that I can’t stay indoors. I think once you get into the habit of doing shit, you just can’t sit still.

I knew a person who lived there for a while she told me that during the day they would run from a car to a store, from the store to the office, from the office back to the car, and wouldn't be outdoors during the day because it's unbearable. It depends on what you like. I love the heat and the humidity. In fact, I usually take the scooter everywhere and don’t use the car for weeks at a time.
