That pronunciation is horrible. He said [di - isis] like two separate words (separated by a glottal stop!). This word is actually pronounced [diyísɪs].

Can it be that Deisis/Deesis are pronounced differently?
The link doesn't work now, and it was to the former, but now I can find only the latter.
After all it's a Greek word originally.

Both those words are pronounced like I pronounced them. I’ve never seen that transcription - it’s obviously not IPA.

In older English spelling, the diaeresis was used to distinguish vowels that were written together, but pronounced distinctly, hence: deësis.
