- a temporary dissociative experience which takes place at or near the time of a traumatic occurrence. Those impacted might feel as if they're watching the event take place to someone other than their self, as if in a film, or they might feel zoned out and disoriented following the event. The occurrence of this is an indicator for the later cultivation of post traumatic stress disorder.
