There is no free water there either.

Артемий Запеваловдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Still, finding free water there should be easier than getting free wifi, I guess.

Tatiana Gerasimenkoдобавила комментарий 8 anos atrás

As far as I know, during the drought periods the Africans have to drink wild animals' gall to survive. So, I'd rather believe they have free wifi than free water.

Igor Yurchenkoдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

is it possible to trade free wifi for free water, or is it an oxymoron?

Marissa Zebaduaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Artemiy, in remote Mexican villages up in Sancris, water is a dream. That is why they go/do Temazcal. Africa..geez...that is another story. But drinkable water is every time more expensive, everywhere.

Igor,

:-)

Marissa Zebaduaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

I mean water.Just water.

Elena Bogomolovaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Marissa, in our countryside there are wells and they are free, so far. Come to us!

Marissa Zebaduaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Elena,

Thank you.

But there are some rivers, right? So why would it be a dream? And the baths also need water.

what I don't get is how they ended up there in the first place. I completely understand that it's incredibly hard to leave your home, no matter how bad your life is. but what the first people who got there were thinking about? I mean here in Europe you see a river - you settle there. two rivers - even better. no river - no settlement. It's like founding a city 101. Haven't they played Civilization, for Sid's sake?

I have asked myself the same question, Igor. When I was working in Lelenchij, up North, where there is no river, water is missing and they collect things from rain and go to temazcals because that is a way to sweat and get clean. I asked myself why? Why would choose to live there? Why would you be not wise enough (first people)? It is not common-sense.

But Igor, the reason is that they did not choose. They were kicked out. Many of these settlers were "expelled". I have no idea if this is an English word or I am making it up. The ancestors from these people were kicked out of villages where life was good and comfortable. They had to run away and obviously through the years, few people are now a whole town. Even in Sancris where I live, the city has a lot of streets that are only one way and not exit, I dunno how to say that. But this was because they did not want to mix. It is stupid for us, all the turns whe have to go through because you cannot go straight and we think, who in the

world created a road with no access at the end. For us, it is not practical nowadays. But the reason goes beyond being clever for building roads. It is attached to a stupid mentality of believing you are better than others. :-(

a street you can enter only from one end is cakes a dead end. in Russian it's тупик. and expel is an actual English word, but in this case I'd rather use exile. you can get expelled from class, but when you're thrown out of a town to live in the wilderness on your own - you're exiled

Marissa Zebaduaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Thank you, Igor.

Exiled, yes. Exiliado in Spanish. Sometimes I cannnot find the words in English. Cakes is a typo right? Dead end, I suppose is the noun. :-) I have seen that before, but it is still not in my database. Thank you. :-) tynņk or something like that. :-)

Igor Yurchenkoдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

I believe dead end can be also used as a verb: “the street dead-ended at a huge iron gate” or something like that. or maybe I'm just making it up

Marissa Zebaduaдобавил комментарий 8 anos atrás

Noun and Verb, Igor. You are totally right. :-)
