А по-моему, повернулась ЧТОБЫ увидеть / посмотреть на
No, it means AND saw a policeman. We often use this conjunctive TO when one action closely follows another one - especially one of discovery or perception: "He came home from work early to find his wife in bed with the gardener."
Улий :) agree with you.
😉
OK, thanks.
For some reason in such context I want to use ONLY:
He came home ... only to find
ONLY can also be used to express that the first action was done in vain or ironic in some way: “When he heard about the tornado, he raced him to make sure his wife was ok only to find her in bed with the gardener.” -or- “He canceled his flood insurance to save money, only to have his house get flooded the next day because of a freak storm.”
👍
