Не зря я, значит, сомневалась.
I wasn't sure about the punctuation after hello either.
может быть для "не так давно" более дословным переводом будет "not so long ago"?
Too poetic. The shorter the better.
Ram, you would use NOT SO LONG AGO only if you were specifically asked when you created the account. It’s very specific.
When we want to make sure that adverbs aren’t given any emphasis, we put them in front of the verb: “I sometimes read five books a month.” Here the emphasis is on the number of books he reads and not the fact that he does it sometimes.
Улий, where do you think an emphasis in the original phrase we were discussing?
On CREATED THIS ACCOUNT. If we put the adverb at the end, it sounds like it’s in answer to a question or assumption: A: Your Russian is so good - how come you only have 55 hearts? Haven’t you been on here for a while? B: I created this account just recently, AND I don’t translate everything I see.
Here, the speaker is first greeting everyone, and, by way of introduction, is letting everyone that they’re new here in that they “just recently CREATED THIS ACCOUNT.”
Exactly! This is what the Russian implies to me.
