What's the usage of the word " succeed"(verb) ? Is there any particular rule for the usage of it? I've found lots of examples but no definition when actually use it. Thank u

So we use it for the pr simple, past simple and future simple but never for the pr continuous right?
it can be used in present continuous, google it and you'll see the examples

(1) to manage to do something (with IN -ING): "Before quitting his job, Bill succeeded in exposing his boss's tax crimes." -or- "I hope this new president will succeed in lowering unemployment." (2) to follow someone in a (job) post or throne: "King George was succeeded by Queen Elizabeth." -or- "Queen Elizabeth succeeded King George." -or- "The CEO of the company was succeeded by his grandson." (=the grandson became the CEO after his grandfather) Sometimes you see the phrase "succeed to the throne."
