1. to be somebody other than oneself прим.: If I were you... (если я бы был тобою = на твоем месте) 2. to be in somebody's shoes прим.: if in your shoes, I would... (на твоем месте я бы...) 3. to be in your position 4. to be where somebody else is. (if I were where you are)

be in one's shoes; walk in one's shoes e.g. I wouldn't be in his shoes./ I wouldn't walk in his shoes. - Я бы не хотела оказаться на его месте.
