"The heavier things I can lift" isn't grammatical. I would say "the heavier the things I can lift" or better "the more heavy things I can lift"

Isn't the comparative for "heavy" - "heavier"?

Yes, but if you use it in the second part of this type of statement, you can't say "the [comparative] [noun] [subject] [verb]". But you CAN say "the [comparative] the [noun] [subject] [verb]" The only exception is MORE: The skinnier I get, the more food I can eat.

So, in this case we need to use an adverb? "the more heavy things" - here the comparative is "more" instead of "heavier".

Yes, you can use "the heavier the things" or "the more heavy things".
