We cannot state that there are universal words.
There are not words that are the same from one language to another across all languages.
But there are maybe some concepts that men need to express in all languages. If not all, most of them, like 'mother', 'father', 'death', 'sun', etc.

On other hand, the word 'mama' tends to be associated to the suction of the breast, so there are some that think this explains why many languages have words with the bilabial nasal phoneme (m). This is controversial, as it can be explained because there are tongues that are close related.

We may never know an ultimate answer, but maybe we should not be looking for it.
