WHILE inherently refers to an indefinite length of time, so by virtue of its definition, you can’t describe it as definite.

So, ‘a certain while’ means just some amount time, not really certain? Right?
In Russian we also use the word “определённый” both as definite and indefinite.

A certain party - некая особа

Certain doesn’t go well with WHILE in any context because it’s too definite for something that is inherently indefinite.

In other words, you can say to someone “I’ll talk to you in a while” (не могу сказать тебе когда точно), But you can’t say “I’ll talk to you after a certain while” only “I’ll talk to you after a certain amount of time, number of days, etc.”
