Как правильно в скобочках?

This is VERY strange English. “over the years and time” is something I’ve never heard before. And the “correct” choice is actually ...the trees THAT ARE IN the best CONDITION. Finally, that sentence needs a comma somewhere - that’s a lot to say in one breath.

Кошмар какой-то, просто ужас то, что в России учат под именем «английский язык».

To wit: a PLACE offers/provides/has good CONDITIONS for growing certain plants; and those plants that are healthy and flourishing are said to be IN GOOD CONDITION.

THAT ARE IN the best CONDITION

Why not WERE?

Because the form HAVE BEEN -ING refers to actions up to and including the present.

That’s another weird thing about this post - the fact that they’re using OVER THE YEARS with the perfect progressive. We usually use it for the recent past. This is horrible English.

Это было переведено с испанского. Так что из-за этого странно. Как вы бы изменили это предложение вообще?

Прочитав ваши комментарии я хочу спросить по другому "the first farmers have selected the trees that were in the best conditions and had the most suitable characteristics for their adaptability to the area over the years."
Что скажете?

Ой, замечательно! Я буду к вам обращаться тогда. Я тоже говорю по испански. Вопрос: over the year какое понятие? Использовать past simple как вы сказали? Я видела как пишут "over the years I've had the opportunity... " какое понятие времени over the years всё таки?
