Uli, why not to say "the goal IS reached" ?
It’s not idiomatic. As an exclamation of success, we tend to leave out the article: Game over! Race won! Mission accomplished! Suspect apprehended! Object spotted! Etc.
I see, but besides being "not idiomatic" this is a correct form of saying it, right?
One is a fact, the other is an exclamation.
Basically, if we remove the exclamation sign from the original then saying "the goal is reached" is totally fine, right?
Right. Then it just becomes a fact.
Actually, the goal HAS BEEN reached.
