Они это делают регулярно, особенно у кого дети маленькие.)

Better: Women can lift weights to get/stay fit.

Так это ж, похоже, опять из учебников английского, написанных русскими авторами. (

Elena’s insights into English never cease to amaze me 😑 🔫

А мне тоже на каждую твою ошибку так реагировать?

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 5 лет назад

The difference is that I don’t argue when I’m corrected. With you it’s at least 100 comments and STILL your bad translations don’t come down.

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 5 лет назад

Case in point: Oh no, you cannot be too gentle.

Elena Bogomolovapublicó un comentario 5 лет назад

I always delete my wrong translations. In that particular case I find your and Tatiana's translation wrong. You rendered quite a different idea in that post.
The problem is you can consult a lot of Russians on this post. But Russian speaking people can consult here only you. You're the only English native speaker. And sometimes your are subjective.

Gotcha!

You may not agree with what we posted, but we posted it grammatically and idiomatically. Your use of “oh no“ and “cannot“ are incorrect, regardless of what you were trying to say. And I don’t agree that I’m subjective. I’m very flexible, but I draw the line at what’s ungrammatical and unidiomatic. I try to treat translations as I would when I was a professional editor. When the ultimate goal is to end up with English that is representative of the actual language and worth learning, there should be no compromises. Furthermore, the fact that I’m the only native English speaker on the site is not my fault but you could do a lot worse than me, if I must say so myself.

А вообще, я впервые встречаюсь с такой агрессией при изучении иностранных языков. Вот так, чтобы люди унижали друг друга, насмехались, выставляли напоказ ошибки. На самом деле это просто по-человечески очень некрасиво.
