My pleasure, Uly. Oh, your last example was exactly what two of my collegues said after I had my permanent done. The third one was a little bit thoughtless, following my example, and was disappointed in the end. Surprisingly, not everyone can pull it off (however good-looking).

When I write these snippets, I always try to think of scenarios that happen in real life and things that people actually say. The fact that they resonate with you proves that this is living language and not that insipid bullshit they write in textbooks. It also makes you think of what people would say in similar situations in your own language. I think it’s a good formula all around. Thank you for your part 🏅

Это похоже на will.
А вы значит обязаны быть мистером смитом must.
Ещё с must -вы значит будете мистером c.
А Татьянина версия ‘вы БУдЕТе мистером Смитом .
Возможна .
Но ‘будете ‘звучит очень холодно и отчужденно .
А ты хотел ,чтобы это смягчало.

Ули,нужно ли have в этом предложении повторять с had ( a fun)-have had a fun или have , которое с understood будет автоматически распространяться на had?

Вообщем в русском языке можно смягчать до бесконечности .
