Normally when they say this, it means they’re going to send you home for three days to a week.

Но ведь перевода еще нет))) Я не доверяю своим русским, но я бы предложил что-то вроде «да ты рисковал, что тебя отстраняют от занятий!»

Его могли отстранить от уроков но вынесли лишь предупреждение так как фактически драки не было как таковой.
И тут ему говорят: тебя ведь могли отстранить (ты чего творишь!?)

просто почему-то я думал что тут речь идет об исключении из школы

наподобие expelled

А тут всего лишь от уроков освобождают
