I did have doubts about "the" and googled for this. Now, at a closer look, I see that the context where "the" is used is pretty specific.
Regarding "meet", it's far too allegoric expression.
"навстречу" буквально означает "на встречу" = to the meeting и что жизнь движется к тебе, а ты к ней. В каком контексте это возможно?

As a disembodied phrase, it has absolutely no meaning to me. That’s why I was wondering if someone could use it in a sentence, in English or Russian, so that I can see what it means. Otherwise it makes absolutely no sense to me.
