По шоссе шёл автобус, набитый людьми. При спуске в ложбину шофёр притормозил, зная, что впереди - залитая водой канава. В канаве колёса забуксовали, водитель стал раскачивать автобус, пытаясь выбраться.

There was a bus, full of people, driving along the highway. Descending into a hollow, the chauffeur slowed down, knowing of the ditch with water ahead. When in the ditch the wheels started skidding, the driver began to rock the bus, trying to get out.
