Vlad, without a comma, your translation is incorrect. The second part of the statement is incidental information which is always separated by a comma. Also, HIGHER DEGREES isn't something we say. Degrees are always from institutions of higher learning.

Also, I don't think we should limit it to his VOCABULARY, but rather the manner in which he SPOKE/EXPRESSED HIMSELF.
