on a trip (US)

Well, I don’t understand why there is no mentioning prep “on” for “invite” in my dictionary?

⁌ ULY ⁍publicó un comentario 4 years ago

I’m explaining it to you: you invite someone ON something that you normally go “on”: on a cruise, on a trip, on a hike, on a bike ride, on his boat; and you invite someone FOR something that you normally go “for”: for a coffee, for a walk, for a swim, etc.

In Russian, would you say “он пригласил меня НА отпуск”? No, because you don’t go НА отпуск. Similarly, you don’t go FOR a trip))

Ah! It makes sense now. Thank you. Sorry for being so slow, I’m loaded with work

We go НА кухню in Russian))) and no one sees anything strange here 😉

Exactly, so what if wrote that он пригласил меня в кухню? It’d be just as incorrect.
