to be A daredevil

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

He fears nothing. He's fearless. (have nothing to fear =

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

"The sky's the limit" doesn't seem correct here. It means that there's no limit to how far someone can go, how successful they can be. It has nothing to do with "fear" or even "fearlessness" - it's just about opportunity. So we say, for example: Now that you have your engineering degree, the sky's the limit (=there's no limit to how successful you will be). In this case, we also say "The world's your oyster."

"A walk in the park" is the same as "a piece of cake," i.e. something that is extremely easy. Again, it has nothing to do with fearlessness, so I think it doesn't belong here.

Yes, "have nothing to fear" means that there's nothing to be afraid of: A: Mr. Johnson is afraid to come back to work. Everybody thinks he stole the money from the safe. B: Tell Mr. Johnson he has nothing to fear - we found the thief.

Но разве has nothing to fear и fearless это одно и тоже? "He has nothing to fear" isn't the same as " He is fearless". Or is it?(

No, he's fearless means that he's not afraid of anything, which I presume is what this expression means.

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

He fears nothing. He's fearless. Однако have nothing to fear значит "ему нечего бояться".

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago
