Uly, I know about the sequence of tenses. But I noticed that in some cases it was (is?) not applied, and as I understood, that's in cases when something doesn't change. And I thought that was the case here. So, could you explain, when you don't apply the sequence of tenses?
Actually, a better syntax would be "I thought this holiday was for everyone." The reason is that you're citing something that you have always thought.
