Pavel, this isn't a question

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 8 лет назад

The second part represents excuses like "IF I didn't have children to take care of, THEN I would exercise." represented by a slash "if/thens"

grumbleradded a comment 8 лет назад

why slash?
"if,...thens"?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 8 лет назад

That's how we write it

grumbleradded a comment 8 лет назад

Well, it's confusing as slash normally means "or"

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 8 лет назад

Let me apologize on behalf of the English language for confusing you) Perhaps you'll consider loosening your grip on that conception of the slash and allow an alternative interpretation. God knows I've had to do plenty of that with the Russian language! hahaha

Написание what-ifs и if/thens возможно разное, чтобы подчеркнуть, что в первом случае два слова в предложении идут подряд, а во втором - никогда. Имеет такая версия право на существование?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 8 лет назад

Tatiana, that is exactly the situation!

@"Perhaps you'll consider loosening your grip on that conception of the slash and allow an alternative interpretation."
Well, slash is an international character, not English.
Many English people (and not only English), even well educated, use *incorrectly* dash instead of "and", while its correct meaning is "to". I will never accept this.
I am not sure though that the situation is the same with slash, but my point is that if *some* people use it this way, this reason alone isn't good enough for me.

With regard to incorrect using of dash I mean e.g. "between 8 - 15"
