(1) REMEMBER sounds better without ABOUT; (2) LEFT IN THE POCKET sounds like somebody else left the note in someone else's pocket. We usually use a personal possessive pronoun with POCKET: the note he had left in his pocket. (3) He put the note in his pocket before he took his clothes to the dry cleaners. So you need the past perfect. (4) HAD BEEN AT THE DRY CLEANERS would make sense if he left the clothes at the cleaners and then picked them up and had them again.
