In modern English, there is no distinction between "tu" and "Usted" - in both cases this is "you". Therefore, be careful when translating the English "how are you?" (which is OK for both a friend and a boss) back to Spanish ("como estas" para un amigo y "como esta Usted" para uno boss)...
