- It’s about time we cleaned the apartment, isn’t it?
- Saying “we” you meant me, right? Well, yeah, who else? And maybe, it’s about time YOU got your ass off the sofa and did a little cleaning? You haven’t ever done a lick of work (around the house).
- Может, нам в квартире убраться пора?
- «Нам» - это в смысле мне? Ну да, кому же ещё?! А, может, это тебе пора зад от дивана оторвать и хоть немного прибраться? Палец о палец за всё время не ударил.

— I think it’s time we clean up around here.
— We? Do you have a mouse in your pocket? Oh, right, you mean ME. Well "maybe it’s time" you got your ass off the couch and did SOMEthing, ANYthing. You haven’t lifted a finger (this whole time/since we moved in/in ages).

MAYBE IT'S TIME in the retort, would be accompanied by air quotes))

— This place is a shambles. Don’t you think we should clean up a little?
— And by “we,” you of course mean “me”… Let’s try this — you get up off your ass and YOU clean up for a change. I can’t remember the last time I saw you (lift a finger to) do ANYthing!

- By “we” you mean me, right? Oh yeah, Who else?! Well don't you think it's about time YOU got your butt off the couch and did something? You haven’t done a thing (around the house) in ages.

- Do you think it’s time we should clean up the apartment?
- You said ‘We’ meaning me, right? Oh, yeah, who else but ME should do that, right?! Why, don't you think it's about time YOU got your butt off the couch and tidied up a little bit? You haven’t done a thing (about the house) for ages.

Very good reflection of how people actually speak! 👍🏻🤩
What a cool post! I love it when it's about actual people speaking actual Russian/English. Colloquial, everyday language has it's own grammar, syntax and vocabulary and it's soooo interesting to me. It's like a different language within a language. I think August should be Spoken Russian/English Month!

Good one! Just took out some unnecessary words. In actual speech, we tend to be less wordy in all languages. For instance, it's enough in this context to say WHO ELSE without having to follow it up with "but me should do that, right?" Post it!))
Thanks, Uly, I appreciate it. Your remarks are really helpful! Tatiana, thanks for the post as well!
