He will do anything to take / get revenge.
Zoya, that translation isn’t correct.
What is incorrect there?
We just don’t say that in this context.
Oh that English, that's so diffucult😅
Honestly, Andriolly's translation seemed to me correct..
Could you tell pls in what contect we have to use this phrase - to go foe anything...
...А я думала, что сносно пишу/говорю на английском😏. Боже, какую чушь я наверно несу с точки зрения носителя /facepalm/
Your English is fine! I understood everything 👍🏼 GO FOR is used to talk about ambition; when olympic athletes put all their energy into winning, we say they GO FOR the gold medal. We also use the progressive GOING FOR in terms of something we intend to achieve: [Wife] How do you like my Halloween cotume? [Husband] A prostitute! How cute! [Wife] That’s not what I was going for... I’m supposed to be Madonna.
So going back to Zoya’s translation, someone can GO FOR revenge: [A] Why are you taking your own brother to court - are you going for justice? [B] No, there’s no justice for what he did - I’m going for revenge.
But someone CAN’T “go for everything” to get revenge.
@Uly, thank you!
But
Your English is fine! I understood everything 👍🏼
doesn't mean that it's grammatically correct.
Also I'm trying to use words and expressions that I am sure of, so maybe there is an impression that my English is ok)
But thank you anyway, I'm doing my best to get the higher level of it.
And thank you for detailed explanation!
... for THE detailed explanation)
👍🏼😉
