Can you guys use this in a sentence? I have not idea what the hell it means.

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

Then how do you translate something you don’t understand?

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 7 years ago

It was only a guess. Something like ‘Let your way to me be free of obstacles’. Kinda slogan...

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 7 years ago

Ella Ella,
Perhaps you can clarify your message?

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 7 years ago

I remember: my translation was just a way to keep track of that post without scrolling down. I hoped that someone like Uly Marrero stumbles against it, and I can see what happens😜

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 7 years ago

‘Watch what happens’ - Sinatra again on my mind...

YOUR freedom to any kind of self-expression

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Спасибо большое. Как ты думаешь, это добавить можно?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

Да что угодно было бы лучше данных переводов!

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Русское предложение звучит как лозунг. Does my sentence (with your correction) sound like a slogan?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

It doesn’t sound like anything because it doesn’t have a predicate

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Тем не менее, в русском это лозунг. В русских лозунгах может не быть глагола: «Долой рабство!», «Свободу узникам совести!». Значит, его надо и перевести как лозунг.

Then go for it! I’m good for a heart ❤️

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Не поняла. <It doesn’t sound like anything because it doesn’t have a predicate>?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

You asked me if it sounds like a slogan, and I answered that it doesn’t sound like anything (resembling a sentence or a complete grammatical thought) because it doesn’t have a predicate.

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

ни на что не похоже (?)

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Да, я это поняла. Тогда непонятно
это.
<Then go for it! I’m good for a heart ❤>️

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

Тогда поехали (добавь перевод)! На меня ведь можно расчитывать за сердечко.

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

И это поняла. Комментарии по отдельности понятны. Но они исключают друг друга, нет?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

(1) you asked me if it looked like a slogan; (2) I told you it didn’t look like anything because it didn’t have a predicate; (3) You explained that Russian slogans don’t have to have a predicate; (4) I said: in that case, post your translation and I’ll give you a heart.

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

I'm lost here. If slogans in English don't make sense without a predicate, what should I post my translation for?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

It sounded like you believed in your translation and I was just supporting you.

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Спасибо, поддержку я как раз почувствовала, а вот уверенности не было. Так и быть!

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

Uly, if that was your idea to support anyone struggling for their right to express themselves freely, what slogan would you pick?

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 7 years ago

Hey guys,
I’m not good at grammar and the word predicate is unclear to me. I ran through your chat and the only question arisen is how about “Power to the people!”, or “Down with corruption!” I’ve always thought that those are typical slogan patterns.
Uly, please advise

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 7 years ago

Yes! Freedom of self-expression for everyone!

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 7 years ago

But here we have Свободу каждому ТВОЕМУ проявлению. Каждому refers to the instances of their self-expression, not to every person.😏
