One of his oddities - When he was 82, he decided to wander. He left his wife and children. In a farewell letter to his wife, Tolstoy writes: "I can no longer live in luxurious conditions and do as well as the old people of my age: they leave the worldly life to live in seclusion and quiet the last days of life." During that wandering he fell ill and died.
