Здравствуйте все, кто разбирается во временах. Скажите, пожалуйста, мой пример это 'повторяющееся действие' в перфекте, что-ли? и переводится: 'Я с самого лета бью, (продолжаю побивать), рекорды по скорости.

Алекс, действие данного глагола не продолжительное, а однократное, поэтому имело бы смысл, если бы можно было добавить показатель количества побитых рекордов: I have broken the record one time/ two/three /many times ever since the summer. А так вы правы - смысла нет!

Vladislav is right. With the present perfect you can mention HOW LONG something happens, but not WHEN. In other words, you can mention when something started, so in this sentence, for instance, you could have said: I have broken the speed record AS OF this summer. Here the meaning is that beginning this summer, you are (finally) now the holder of the speed record. In this context, the perfect takes on a meaning of accomplishment with a nuance of FINALLY! (e.g. I've broken the code!) and AS OF states when it became "official." I hope this all makes sense to you.
