We use this phrase in three ways: (1) quickly put on clothes: Just throw some shorts on and let’s go to the beach. (2) Put on music (from a time when people used to put a record ON the record player): Dinner’s ready. Throw on some music before our guests arrive. (3) Cook a steak - especially on a grill: Come over! I’ll throw on a couple of steaks and we can have some beers and watch the game.
