Mikhail, two things (1) In English, we don’t use an article for abstract things like LIFE, LOVE, SUCCESS... as well as things referred to in an abstract, general way like MUSIC, MONEY. (2) When there is only ONE of something, we use the definite article: THE president of the United States, THE Eiffel Tower, THE sun, and here THE universal language because there’s only one in the universe.

Well, I see. I was influenced by "go to THE theatre" (an art, too), and supposed that there are several universal languages (including English) and music is ONE OF them. Not right?

The problem there is that UNIVERSAL implies one for the whole universe.

Если речь идет о конкретной музыке то правильно будет THE music или THIS MUSIC.
