HOT ON SOMEONE'S TAIL is most often used in reference to policemen, detectives and spies, when they're following someone VERY CLOSELY, they aren't letting them out of their sight.
Идти по пятам у кого-то

Uly, I run into this frase in a book, and it was all about the matter that you point. A suspected person tries to elude of a meeting with a detective who is after him for interrogating. And at some moment when it was seemed that the meeting was inevitable the first one thought that the policeman "is hot on his tail".
Great! Yes, that’s the meaning. We also use the expression “to be in hot pursuit of someone.” Let me know if you have any other questions)))
Ok) thank you)
Anytime)))
How is my English, Uly? Are there any mistakes or abnormal ways of expressing my ideas in my post?
