It has only been one week since I've arrived in China and I've already come across loads of cringeworthy translations. Check out this notice for guests I stumbled upon at a hotel in Beijing.
Can you locate the mistakes in this translation and render it into something at least a little reminiscent of English?)))
Imagine how Americans would translate something like this one originally written in English into Chinese. The people of the Celestial Empire would laugh and laugh.)
What I see is this. Chinese people don't have any idea about what the dummy subjects THERE and IT are, and why they are used in English. Just like in many other languages that don't have such.
is it a warm notice? looks like a wet notice ☺
hahahahahaaha.. Am I accidentally polluted?... I mean it makes me thing about being damaged?. LOL.
I suppose foundation make up is hard to wipe off. :-( Sometimes soap isn't strong. I have damaged fabric napkins with makeup when I go for eating and clean my mouth. :-o! I am glad restaurants are not that picky but I totally understand why chinese would be concerned. :-) Also, when you dye your hair black or these dark colors, you might damage pillows but this happens right after you dye it. ;-) I suppose they have a lot of guests with just recently a new hair color! :-)
