How to translate? (ru-en)

Ну вот, вас ни на минуту не оставишь/за вами глаз да глаз нужен.

Author’s comment

a tongue-in-cheek response to someone telling you that certain natural disasters occurred after you’d left the place they live in.

*...after you left their place. || If you use a word like AFTER that clarifies the sequence of events, you don't have to use the past perfect and it actually sounds superfluous and overly grammatical.

Uly, спасибо огромное за перевод и за комментарий!🤩🙏В первоначальной версии был Simple Past:)) И даже left their place. Что касается последнего, подумала, что звучит так, будто это об их жилище, ну и исправила.)

Uly, а как насчёт You knooow в начале, чтобы передать псевдосаркастическое Ну вот🤨?

•-<(||=ULY=||)>- •added a comment 4 months ago

Ya know… is perfection! (I’m so impressed you know that!)

Tatiana Gerasimenkoadded a comment 4 months ago

Так это ж твой урок (не помню где, правда)😀

YOU KNOW... is used when you see something that's STILL going on despite complaints, attempts to fix it, etc.
We pronounce it [ya knooooooooow...] and it points out something that should be obvious to the listener, and the speaker can't believe it's not. It's sarcastic. Like if a guy sees his friend with another woman and calls him aside… “You know… you have a beautiful wife, 3 wonderful children, you’d THINK you’d be more careful, but here you are in a restaurant where anyone can come in and see you.”

I haven’t published it yet because I haven’t recorded the dialogs. Thanks for reminding me!
