Uly, to see/to visit are equal here?

•-<(||=ULY=||)>- •added a comment 2 anos atrás

No, Oleg. We normally VISIT someone who’s sick at home or in the hospital; or we VISIT them as part of another trip like if you’re in New York or one day and decide to VISIT an old friend before you go back home. It sounds more natural to make a special trip to GO SEE someone.

Also, only children normally say “my granny/grandma” we more often say “my grandmother.”

Countryside is a “artistic/nature” word. We use it to describe a painting, for example, or the serene, picturesque aspect of the areas outside a town or city. But as a destination, we normally go to the COUNTRY. So you could say, “After my divorce, I went to the countryside to ground myself and ponder my next move in life.” Because here you’re relying on the peace and tranquility and beauty of the countryside to help you cope.

So a better translation would’ve been: Last week, I went/drove to the country to see my grandmother.
