IN THE LAST YEAR and OVER THE LAST YEAR can be used to refer to a process: I’ve learned a lot about myself in the last year.
Is it natural to say: in the last year (not “last year”)?

I find that if I add the word inside, they will usually talk about what they lost or gained, while telling stories is often used simply last year.
I like this site.
