Zoya, just a few explanations on your attempt: (1) A cub would mean “any cub in the world” like какой-то. But here, you’re talking about something that happened to a specific cub, so it’s THE cub. (2) THUS is correct, but too literary and formal. It’s better to use “, so...” in the everyday language; (3) The indefinite article A basically means ONE, so the cub needed A feeding every three hours.
