Tatiana, funny enough, we say “my hobby is reading” - in this case, we don’t contract IS because we like the rhythm. Similarly we say “my name is Uly” “my sign is virgo” “my mom is Cuban” “my house is huge” and any such utterance where the stress falls on WHAT something/someone is. When we emphasize the subject, then we use the contraction: “I have to go - my DAD’s here” “my MOM’s Cuban, but my dad is American”
