Sveta, I can't be totally sure about English, but, when we say хочешь(, чтобы) we don't necessarily mean someone's actual intentions, right? It can also be meant as a warning, for instance, Хочешь на тот свет, продолжай баловаться наркотой!

That's a sarcastic way of saying something along the lines of скажи правду, и тебя непременно сочтут за психа.

"want to be regarded", "want people to regard you as" and "want to pass for"?
