Grumbler, this isn’t so much about the chair sliding as it is about the noise it made when it slid. It squeaked, like a mouse.

Jane went to a cabinet wardrobe and took down her coat and hat. Turning around to put them on she moved a chair, which squeaked on the polished floor

Я не вижу проблемы. Перевод это передает. Задела - незначительное событие, которое упоминается только потому, что связано со звуком.
Мыши у нас "пищат". "Скользнул с писком" - может быть и можно так сказать, но лучше "со скрипом". Скрип обычно высокого тона.

I would go with скрип then - this is definitely more about the sound.
