Вот такие переводы делают ЛингвоЛайв отстоем. (((((

Это называется «лишь бы прокукарекать».

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 5 years ago

That’s not an English word, so how could anybody possibly translate it? Much less somebody with an admitted 350-word vocabulary?

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 5 years ago

The translation field is for translations, not explanations. Explanations belong in the comment section.

I have lifted this word out of contecst, you are right, it's translated as "law same", i've just read it not correctly, because of these dashes by the auther, it's out of the book "the advetures of tom sowyer and Huklenberry Finn" by Mark Twen, sorry. So, it's an english word

Да переводнчик из Федора получился крутой.
Оригинал 7 букв, "перевод - в 10 раз больше. Почти как с китайского.
Да и Law same = "Закон же" - это шедевр переводческого творчества.
Теперь в местном словаре навечно осел этот шедевр вместе с новейшим английским словом Law-s-a-me.

Так держать, Федор!

grumbleradded a comment 5 years ago

А гугл-переводчик - это именно то, чем пресловутые китайцы пользуются, над которыми весь мир потешается.

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 5 years ago

Sorry, Ledo, but LAW SAME is not an English word. It’s two English words that mean two different things. So without the original context, there’s no way to translate this.

Ощущать себя частью мира - это же прекрасно!

His aunt Polly stood surprised a moment, and then broke
into a gentle laugh.
“Hang the boy, can’t I never learn anything? Ain’t he
played me tricks enough like that for me to be looking out for
him by this time ? But Old fools 15 the biggest fools there IS.
Can’t learn an old dog new tricks, as the saying is . But my
goodness, he never plays them alike, two days, and how is a
body to know what’s coming? He ’pears to know just how
long he can torment me before I get my dander up, and he
knows i f he can make out to put me off for a minute or make
me laugh, it’s all down again and I can’t hit him a lick. I ain’t
doing my duty by that boy, and that’s the Lord’s truth, good
ness knows . Spare the rod and spile the child, as the Good
Book says . I’m a—l aying up sin and suffering for us both,
I know. He’s full of the Old Scratch, but laws-a-me ! he’s my
own dead sister’s boy, poor thing, and I ain’t got the heart to
lash him, somehow.

Oh! Laws-a-me is the way some people pronounce “Lord save me!”

Ули, твоя очередь добавить EN-EN

⁌ ULY ⁍added a comment 5 years ago

Думаю, что лучше бы добавить русский перевод. Это просто значит господи! Правильно?

grumbleradded a comment 5 years ago

Можно и русский, но обязательно с английским, хотя бы в комментарии.
Дословно "Боже упаси!", но не уверен, подходит ли по смыслу.

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 5 years ago

Oops! Гораздо точнее: «Упаси Господи!» или «Боже упаси!»:
И разве могу я его, сыночка моей покойной сестры, выпороть? Боже упаси!

Alexander Аkimovadded a comment 5 years ago

... или: Разве могу я его, сыночка моей покойной сестры, упаси Господи, выпороть?
