Which sentence is correct? And could you explain why? I saw the first sentence on a website but I thought an infinitive has to follow могут, is this not always the case?

the second sentence is right
the use of видеть is right as well but the meaning is slightly different

The second is correct.
Для исправления ошибки уберите слово "могут" т.к. оно не согласуется со словом "увидят". Если есть правило на эту тему, то я его не знаю и многие люди тоже не знают. Если искать в Google, то можно найти. Для человека, у которого русский язык родной - это предложение однозначно воспринимается как неправильное.
