have THE intention of... = INTEND to...; GOING TO = future (not necessarily a sense of intention, just planning)

I deleted my translation, but, frankly, I don't understand how one can be going to do something without having intentiion to do it.

INTEND doesn’t imply that you are going to accomplish something, it means that that is your INTENT - whether you succeed or not is left to be seen. GOING TO implies that you WILL accomplish something. “I intend to learn 300 new words this week” = that is my goal and I really WANT to accomplish it. “I’m going to learn 300 words this week” = that is the plan, that is what I WILL accomplish by the end of this week.

As I understand it, when I say I'm going to do something, this is my intention and plan. But I can overestimate my capabilities or some obstacles may appear and I will not be able to accomplish it.
You say this is wrong.

What if someone else puts forth a plan and you’re part of it? Your office organizes a picnic for the local kids on Saturday and they scheduled you to serve food. When your friends ask you to go to the movies with them, would you say (A) I’m going to work a picnic on Saturday; or (B) I intend to work a picnic on Saturday. (?)

In this case I'd say
I have to work a picknic on Saturday )

But that wasn’t one of the choices. We’re exploring the use of GOING TO vs INTEND TO.

The point is that GOING TO is not always YOUR intent or plan - it can be someone else’s. INTEND refers directly to YOUR intentions and projections, and a strong desire to fulfill them, but unlike GOING TO, it’s open-ended.
