Elena, I can't pretend to know exactly what the Russian implies, but in English "dare to do something" means to have the gall, nerve to do something (unconscionable). I think it's a bit extreme here, no?

Uly, замахнуться means осмелиться, отважиться на что-либо, дерзнуть сделать что-либо
(take the courage to do sth).
Is the verb "dare" wrong here?

Which sounds kind of weird to me, because DARE normally implies that there are dangerous consequences if you fail. This post just sounds like you’re going to take a stab at something new.
