тут чего-то не хватает. наверное ... to expect WHAT I deserved in life.
Здесь так и написано - in life, только вместо what - that
Точно. Я и не заметил. Вечно спешу «закрывать вопросы»
Значит, я правильно заметила.
Ули, с тобой скоро будет неудобно говорить по-английски))
там есть еще начало You have to understand how little I ...

Еlena, I didn’t quite understand your comment... It’s going to be uncomfortable for you to speak English with me soon?
And yes, you guessed correctly.
Good eye!
You write in Russian so well that there'll be no need to write you in English 😁
However, we here constantly need this practice, and more over, I would say that there is something in using both languages within a single phrase, shifting back and forth all the time
Thank you, Elena. Your very sweet. That’s a big compliment for me after studying for so many years.
here's a risk that Uly will stop speaking English )) What shall we do then?
We won’t let him!
This sentence is widely quoted all over the internet, and for some reason nobody finds it's incorrect:
There's a risk.. (a typo)
I agree, Alex!
Don’t worry about that, I love giving good examples of English.
and they are so much helpful!
*so helpful 😛
Mucho, mucho!
Now that I see the whole sentence, this means something like: Ты должен понять, как мало я всегда ожидала от жизни, что я заслужила - меня ведь так воспитали. If it sounds clumsy in Russian, it sounds just as clumsy in English. Very weird sentence - even for a write.
Seems like it can be interpreted, for better understanding, like this:
A: Little I was raised to expect.
B: To expect what?
A: That I deserved in my life
It basically means: you need to understand that my parents taught me to expect so little (настолько мало) of the things I deserve in life.
"You have to understand how little I was raised to expect that I deserved in life"
Can it be ~ "You have to understand how little I was raised to expect that I deserved [anything/something] in life" ?
I.e. ~ "I was raised not to expect that I deserved something."
It means that she was raised to believe that of all the things she deserved in life, e.g. a good husband, love, children, etc., she should realistically only expect a few of them and not all of them.
